When cheesy ESPN headlines go too far
I know journalism commentary isn’t part of my realm on this site, but since this one has to do with sports, I’ll indulge myself this one time. Props to NBN staffer Dagny Salas for pointing this out:
I don’t even know what to say, besides the fact that Vin Diesel hasn’t made a culturally relevant movie since The Fast and the Furious. (I would go further, but this site has already pissed off one C-list Hollywood celebrity and Diesel is considerably stronger than Justin Long.)
But jokes aside – if you read the story, it talks about how Vin Baker, who used to be a pretty good NBA player, has struggled with alcoholism and depression. Now that’s exactly the kind of story that merits a headline like this, don’t you think?
Somebody talk some sense into the intern that wrote this, please.

Good find and a good post. Although just in general it’s always kind of weird to me when I hear about players’ private lives, it feels intrusive.

Vin Diesel actually made a cameo in The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. So, yeah, Vin Diesel.
Terrible headline, but great find you two.

I think the Random Vin Diesel fact generator is culturally relevent…I mean, where else can you say “You are what you eat. This is why Vin Diesel’s diet consists mainly of bricks, steel beams and the tears of small children.”
Oh Vin Diesel. Wow.

It’s just another indication of the lack of knowledge about alcoholism-a primary terminal health disease. Would we have read that if Vin Baker left due to cancer? The person that wrote this should go hang out in some ER’s and see what alcohol does to people. I’m an ER RN and have 20 years of sobriety.
