Still dancers in their hearts
The lights and sounds of DM are a familar scene to Ben Woo, Tom Hines and Kristin Mays. The three alums were all members of DM 2006 Exec Board and have returned to the Louis Room for one more year of dancing.
Swaying to the music near the projector screen, Woo (Weinberg ‘06) said he was thrilled with how DM has turned out this year.
“It’s great to see DM continue [the way it has]. The people we left it to have surpassed what we did last year, it really speaks to our success as an organization,” Woo said. “It’s so much bigger than any person or year, like this year’s Exec Board has already started planning DM 08 and 09. It’s impossible to have it the culture within any year.”
McCormick ‘06 grad Hines, a member of last year’s Dancer Relations committee, was dancing and grinning and said getting to dance again was a huge part of connecting back to DM.
“It’s been awhile since I danced and seeing it the dancer’s perspective brings back a lot of memories,” he said. “I’ve been able to see the emcees from the dancer’s perspective. Before I saw them backstage, but now I see firsthand the effect they have on the dancers.”
A member of the Outreach committe last year, Mays (Weinberg ‘06) agreed that dancing was the reason DM is so special.
“Although being on Exec last year was the most important thing I did in college, dancing is the best part of DM,” she said.
