Coloring, magic shows and Willie the Wildcat two floors below the dancing
Just as the Louis Room two floors above has been transformed into a dance party, the Norris food court now resembles a carnival — or a day camp. Children run around. Willie the Wildcat waves. Football players signed autographs. Balloons, coloring books and crayons are strewn about.
“You name it, we’re doing it,” says Weinberg freshman Scott Yasinow. He’s on the Norris Projects Planning committee (NPP), selling tickets for the kids carnival. Proceeds from the event go to DM’s beneficiaries.
The kids’ fair isn’t just to raise money. NPP committee member and Communication freshman Abby Goldman said it was a “form of outreach for the Evanston community.” Student groups that work with children get to perform on campus, which they can’t usually do. Plus, everyone involved gets to have some fun.
Lucas Verrilli, 7, sits at a table with his brother and cousin, coloring.
“It’s fun to do,” he says of coloring. “You can let your imagination fly.”
