DM brings bands together to battle
None of the local bands that strummed and sang in this year’s Battle of the Bands left as a loser. The Agglitz, LiLi and The Sea Monsters accepted a tie for first place amid cheers from an audience of friends and family.
Megan Brown, music editor of PLAY magazine, said that the contest was hard to judge since the bands had a variety of styles and influences.
The contest raised money for Dance Marathon and was hosted by NSTV. Emcees Robert Boesel, Davey Vorhes and Jimmy Chang amused the crowd between acts with everything from art commentary to college application advice.
“It’s a tie!” Boesel said gleefully when the bands had finished and Brown gave him the signal. “Everyone can go home and say they are a winner of the Battle of the Bands.”
