Podcast: Grad student trains for this week’s Chicago Marathon
When Khalid Khannouchi broke the men’s marathon world record in 1999, NU graduate student Lauren Reinke greeted him at the finish line: as a worker, she ensured runners got tested for drugs. Now, she’s training for the 26.2-mile Chicago Marathon on Oct. 7, and in the process has battled salmonella and run in the dead of winter.
