Nas shaking up the rap industry yet again
By
Last year, rapper Nas launched a thousand feature articles about the state of rap after the release of his album Hip-Hop is Dead. You’d think one controversially titled album would be enough for the guy, but he’s gone and topped himself on the shock scale. Nas would like to entitle his next LP…well, he’d like to call it the N-word. Guess I’m not ballsy enough to type that out. Political correctness aside, this move is drawing a lot of heat from a lot of sides, and, if the album is released with the current title, Universal could lose $84 million due to lawsuits from political groups. The album’s name has already been changed…from “N-Word minus the er” to just plain old “N-Word.” Can Nas ever top this name? I’d hate to imagine how he’d do that.
