Love Springs
Love Springs
From her cliff-bound cage Andromeda endures.
Below waves lick the jagged shore.
Andromeda’s loneliness deepens,
When Poseidon’s passions supervene,
The waves dance like fire, dance and hiss, and she is enveloped,
With both water and emotion.
Wings clipped, a sorrow stricken Andromeda flutters in her cage.
She entreats the very gods that entrapped her for her salvation.
Her hands supinate as her jeweled tears spill
Into placid moonlit waters where Hephaestus’ fishing nets gently undulate,
Strung together from pearls and golden-fleece; the nets gleam tantalizingly.
“Aphrodite,” he whispers, “Join me in the heavens.”
On high an enslaved Andromeda hopes.
As light spills through open bedroom windows
Slumbering mortals toss and turn.
Lovers find no rest
As Aphrodite torments one who would unconditionally love her.
Andromeda prays for the one who will.
Be mine, Perseus.
Thank the gods you aren't chained to a cliff. Stop pining over your loved one and ask them out. Just make sure you have the right outfit for that crucial first date. Or you can return home.
