World-class soprano Renee Fleming will be coaching a master class for Northwestern opera students on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Pick-Staiger Concert Hall. She is nominated for two Grammy Awards this year, one for Best Classical Voice and the other for Best Classical Album. Tickets are $7 for the general public; $5 for senior citizens and Northwestern faculty and staff; and $4 for full-time students with IDs. They can be purchased by calling 847-467-4000.

In other School of Music news, Ethan Bensdorf, who graduated from Northwestern last year, was recently appointed second trumpet in the New York Philharmonic. The trumpet section boasts another Northwestern graduate — Matthew Muckey from the class of 2006. Both trumpeters studied under Northwestern professors Barbara Butler and Charles Geyer.
