NU in 60 seconds: January 11

Your guide to what you need to know today.

What to do today:

  1. Venture North…way North: Today is the last day to stop by the study abroad office on Dartmouth Street to pick up your application to study abroad for the 2008-2009 academic year. Walking that far up Sherman is an expedition quite comparable to traveling to a foreign country, so perhaps you won’t need to bother with the actual application. If you do, read NBN’s helpful guide to completing the application.
  2. Expand your horizons: Learn a new game tonight because let’s face it, sometimes beer pong can get a bit old.
  3. Help kick off the first National Human Trafficking Awareness Day: Grab some hot chocolate at The Rock from members of the sponsoring student group, One Voice, then go to watch speaker Daria Mueller at 5 p.m. in the McCormick Tribune Center.

Campus News:

  1. Opinion editor Paul Schrodt weighs in on the week’s campus news
  2. Missed the volunteer fair today? Never fear – hear audio clips from students explaining their organization’s volunteer opportunities.
  3. Fraternities are getting record number of new members so far.
