Frat recruitment numbers break record for third day
By
Fifty-eight students “dropped,” or accepted, bids to Northwestern fraternities Thursday night, bringing the total of new members after the first three days of recruitment to 282.
The first two nights broke recruitment records, but last night’s number of new members was “on par” with previous years, said Corey White, the assistant director of the office of fraternity and sorority life. Last year, 54 students joined on the third day.
Still, the three-day total is significantly above average. Here’s a look at the three-day totals for the past five years.
- 2007: 255
- 2006: 204
- 2005: 214
- 2004: 205
- 2003: 216
Elder Hall is home to the most number of new members for the past two nights, followed by Bobb Hall and Willard Residential College.
Recruitment continues for two more nights, ending Saturday.
