Giuliani to end presidential bid, and other election news
By
After John McCain’s victory in the Florida GOP primary, most major news networks–including CNN, FOX News and MSNBC–are announcing that Rudy Giuliani will end his bid and endorse McCain Wednesday. Giuliani hasn’t confirmed these reports, though CNN points out that he did speak in the past tense about his campaign at one point:
“I’m proud I ran a positive campaign,” he said. “I ran a campaign that was uplifting.”
Mitt Romney came in second in the Florida primary, but McCain is fast becoming considered the GOP front-runner by the media.
Dennis Kucinich dropped his presidential bid last week and announced he plans to focus his attention on returning to the House next term. He faces some stiff competition in his home state of Ohio.
Hillary Clinton won the Florida Democratic primary, though the Democratic National Committee stripped both Florida and Michigan of delegates as punishment for holding the state primaries before February 5. Clinton won both of these states, and is pledging to fight to get the delegates seated at the National Convention this summer.
