Hillary: The Movie!

The conservative advocacy group Citizens United’s new documentary, Hillary: The Movie, could be coming to a theater near you! The film, which opened in Washington, D.C. on January 16, is, according to the website, “the first and last word in what the Clintons want America to forget.”

The problem? The Federal Elections Committee has put restrictions on three television ads promoting the movie. The FEC says that the movie is the “functional equivalent of expressly advocating the defeat of Senator Clinton” and so the ads are therefore subject to regulation by campaign-finance laws, which means funding restrictions and disclosure requirements.

Citizens United objects, saying the ads are aimed at getting people to see the movie, not defeating a particular presidential candidate, and claiming the FEC is impinging on their right to free speech. A federal court in D.C. disagreed and ruled in favor of the FEC. The Supreme Court is set to discuss whether to hear the case under an expedited process on February 15.

“We want to fight this [Supreme Court case] and win this battle,” executive producer of the film David Bossie said, “because if Hillary Clinton is not the Democratic nominee we will have an Obama movie out this summer.”

Meanwhile, the film–which features Ann Coulter, Newt Gingrich, and Gary Aldrich, among others–is being shown around the country, though it hasn’t made it to Chicago yet. Stay tuned!

I saw Hillary the Movie last week. The film was more of a tragedy than a documentary. Apart from the conservative diggs, a deeper story was being told. It’s the story of a brilliant woman who sold her soul for political power. It’s written all over her face as she transforms into the bitter woman she is from her youth. If you want more details, you can read my latest blog on http://thinkingoutsidetheblog.blogspot.com

This film is not anymore a political commercial than Michael Moore’s film Fahrenheit 911 was a paid ad to not vote or support our president! Thanks for your blog.
