Goodbye Romney. Hello McCain?
Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney suspended his campaign for the Republican party nomination for US presidency this morning.
In a statement at the Conservative Political Action Conference, Romney said that he was worried that his campaign would “forestall the launch of a national campaign, and frankly I’d be making it easier for Senator Clinton or Obama to win.”
Romney endorsed McCain in his declaration of suspension, though he has not formerly dropped out of the presidential race.
“I hate to lose,” said Romney. According to analysts, his current suspension could be a tactic to claim concessions from the Republican nominee.
