Can Northwestern keep the middle class?

While Harvard courts the upper-middle class, Northwestern is still trying to figure out its need-based aid with a shift to more grants and less loans two weeks ago. How much can we actually squeeze out of the university’s Lyrica cash-in, and what does the school owe us, anyway?

It was mentioned during the conversation that $10,000 here and there would not make a big difference to middle-class families.

    I completely disagree.

For a middle-class families who makes around $40,000 a year, and after financial aid, the student needs to pay around $30,000 a year, $10,000 can mean coming out of debt $40,000 ahead of time. Especially because NU is helping from the bottom up, the families being affected are going to be the ones who most need it. If it reaches the middle-class, which it probably will because NU gives much more generous packages to those in the lower-class already, those families will definitely be able to feel the difference.
