No respect for Brad Renfro?
Actor Brad Renfro died January of a drug overdose, just week’s before Heath Ledger’s equally untimely death. Because the Academy, for reasons I am not aware of and hope will be made clear in the next few days, did not recognize Renfro in the traditional “In Memoriam,” a montage which honors those in the industry who have passed in the last year.
Though his death was not as widely reported as that of Heath Ledger, Renfro was still a talented actor who starred in films such as The Client and (a personal favorite) Ghost World. Blatantly ignoring his talents and work in the industry at a ceremony as well-known as the Oscars is just bad taste. Please someone, anyone, explain yourselves.
