NU in 60 seconds: February 27

By Laura Ashbaugh

What you need to know to live your life today.

What to do:

  1. Speed date: NU has no dating scene, blah blah blah. Do something about it. Sign up today for Dance Marathon’s speed dating on Thursday. Only $10 gets you in on all the awkward fun.
  2. Clean out your closet: Let’s face it, the Freshmen Fifteen (and no, not the a capella group) are here to stay. It’s time to give away those skinny jeans, and it’s for a good cause.
  3. Treat yourself to a movie: Go to the Block Cinema tonight at 8 p.m. to see a Russian film about love and war. They’ll make your problems (and that nasty midterm) seem a little less dire.

What to know:

  1. Tuition increased…again: Find out how many burritos, shots, and El rides you could have bought if you didn’t have to shell out that extra two grand.
  2. Mother and student: See what it’s like to be 19, an NU student, and the mother of a 5-year-old.
  3. NU sorority girls told to embrace their genes: CAPS sponsors a special panel for the students to hear about the dangers of dieting and eating disorders.
