NU comics battle in Rooftop Comedy competition

By Kate Piserchia

Ryan Auditorium became a venue for stand-up comedy Thursday night when 10 Northwestern students competed in Rooftop Comedy’s first national college campaign, which is searching for the funniest students from 32 colleges and universities across the country. Only eight students were chosen by the audience to advance to regionals as Northwestern’s comedy team.

Rooftop Comedy is an outlet for “up-and-coming comedians to showcase and display their talents,” said Jenn Stokes, event marketing manager with rooftopcomedy.com.

Winners included Rebecca Warm, Jory Pomeranz, Timothy McGovern, Christopher Lyons, Kirk Sells, Joel Sinensky, Thomas Witczak. The newly selected team will now compete against Columbia College for the regionals on March 10 at Zanies Comedy Club in downtown Chicago.
