A tribute to Bjork’s Post

Original Album ArtPost was the first Bjork album I ever bought, a very long time ago. The album blew my mind, mostly because I didn’t know anything about Bjork except that she was crazy and beat up reporters. However, Post revealed an artist unafraid to push music forward while also not forgetting how powerful lyrics could be. It made me one of Bjork’s biggest fanboys around and, though it isn’t my favorite of her albums (see Homogenic), I still treasure it to this day.

Music blog Stereogum also digs the album, and honored it by releasing Enjoyed: A Tribute to Bjork’s Post as a free download on their site today. Go here to get the excellent offering, including covers by Atlas Sound, El Guincho, Xiu Xiu, No Age and many others. My personal favorites on this download are Liars’ powerful version of “Army of Me” and Dirty Projector’s great translation of my favorite track from the album “Hyperballad.” And who said blogs don’t give the world anything great?
