Japanese firm makes barcodes cool

By Ryan Gallagher

A Japanese firm, D-Barcode, overhauled one of the most commonplace things ever. The result is some pretty artful and interesting barcodes. The barcodes are appearing in grocery stores all over Japan. D-Barcode’s website is a little tricky to navigate (it’s in Japanese), but they seem to do only one thing and that’s barcodes. Huh, never knew there was market for such a thing. The more you know.

Choosing art for a career path is a hard life (I’m going to be a homeless film major later in life - hooray!). If you can’t sell your art, make it useful. So, screw the movie theatre! I want my films to be screened by soccer moms and dads in the produce section! Thanks D-Barcode!
