NU in 60 Seconds: April 21

Have a news tip? Send it our way.

Ever wanted to know exactly who is under that furry facade? If you were clever, you could have snuck over to the Willie the Wildcat tryouts yesterday. In addition Willie’s favorite ladies, the varsity cheerleading squad, had their tryouts this weekend.

In arty news, the Baroque Music Ensemble celebrated the genius of Handel. They played some of his masterpieces from when he was 22. Yes, he was composing full things by 22. Eat your heart out, music majors.

The School of Music also celebrated another composer last night — but you may actually listen to this one. John Williams, the composer of the Jaws theme and the music from Star Wars, made a musical appearance at Pick-Staiger on Sunday.

Warning: Prospie season is now upon us. Starting tomorrow, Wildcat Days (formerly Preview NU) will consume our campus. Watch out for oversized tour groups and hundreds of fresh-faced high schoolers gathered at Norris. They are set to touch down at 5 p.m., so avoid the student center after class on Monday and Tuesday.

Don’t forget to register for those Mini Courses at Norris! While some of us can’t quite get into the drink mixing class (even with a good fake–they check with the Registrar), who wouldn’t love to learn how to do the Cha Cha Cha? Ballroom is hot right now–look a the ratings for Dancing with the Stars.

This week is earth week, so green up.
