I'm really hoping the whole 'conclusion' we get to the series is that unlike creepy old lady that knows the future that Desmond met, we find out that there is no such thing as fate and you CAN change your future. Otherwise, paranoid Hurley, alcoholic Jack, ex-con mildly crazy Kate and her potentially evil adopted son, and distraught/murderous Sayid and Sun (but is Jin really dead? the date on the tombstone said Sept 24, 2004...when the plane crashed)...they are all screwed.
