Trust MySpace? It says that The Cool Kids are coming on Dillo Day
By
Chicago rap duo The Cool Kids have scheduled a performance at Northwestern on Dillo Day, May 31, according to their MySpace page. Fellow Windy City rapper Common has already been announced as Dillo Day’s headliner, and rock outfit Ted Leo and the Pharmacists will also play on Dillo Day, according to the band’s publicist.
Formed in 2005, The Cool Kids create hip hop that, as they claim in their music, is “bringing ‘88 back.” Their rap style recalls ’80s groups such as Run DMC and Eric B. & Rakim. The duo has received high praise, the Los Angeles Times saying they are “one of the more promising new groups to emerge in recent years.” The Cool Kids have opened for M.I.A., and were also featured in an ad for music provider Rhapsody.
Personal opinion time: It’s an awesome grab (if they really are coming, all we’ve got to go off of right now is a MySpace tour listing), as The Cool Kids put on a sweet show. Common is great and all, but I honestly find what The Cool Kids do a lot more interesting and, more importantly, fun. Dillo Day 2008 already looks a billion times better than last year’s edition (and they had The Roots!).

Counting Crows…now Third Eye Blind? It’s officially 1997.
Third Eye Blind is a total cop out, in my opinion. However, the Cool Kids almost makes up for the lackluster line-ups of the past few events (FotC as the exception, of course).

Third Eye Blind would suck, ugh.
Patrick, you seriously like the Cool Kids more than Common? Are you kidding me? Do your ears work?

Yes, and they’ll put on a shitty show just like Counting Crows did. What a waste of money.
