Muxtape for April
We can turn the calendar page to May now, and with a new month also means a new Muxtape from this fair blog. April was a hell of a month for music (the best 30 days of music 2008 has seen so far), and our Muxtape for the month highlights a few of the songs we enjoyed a lot as the weather became tolerable and Ben & Jerry’s gave us free cake batter ice cream.
A few of this month’s highlights: a suprisingly clever pop single from Mariah Carey, a minimalist tune by El Perro Del Mar, a track worthy of Pretty in Pink courtesy of M83 and a tropical splash of awesome from the much-loved Animal Collective. One song we haven’t talked about on the blog yet is Portishead’s “Machine Gun,” featured on their new album Third. Expect a more detailed post soon, but Portishead’s first effort in 11 years, after a few spins, is still stuck in my head, and definitely one of the year’s best albums so far. Gorgeous (albeit depressing) stuff.
Oh yeah, and we end with a track by one of the (intentionally) worst comedians in the world. Enjoy!
