NU in 60 Seconds: May 8

By Chloe Benoist

With President Bienen preparing his retirement, today’s your chance to have a say in what you’re looking for in a Northwestern president. Show up in the Big Ten Room in Norris at 1 p.m. to talk with the Presidential Search Committee.

Northwestern also has another seat to fill, as it was announced Wednesday that Beth Combs, coach of Northwestern’s women’s basketball team, is resigning. Props to Combs for getting out before her 100th loss. To be fair, it was also before her 25th win. But, hey, winning 20 percent of your games ain’t half-bad, right? If only she was half-bad…

Want to hear more depressing news? If you want to know what impact you are having on our beloved planet Earth, take this quiz to find out how many Earths would be needed if everyone on this planet lead the same lifestyle as you.

Once you’ve learned how you’re ruining the earth, find out who wants to save it. Listen to Professor Yael Wolinksy talk about the eco-justice movement at 6 p.m. The event is organized by Students for Ecological and Environmental Development (SEED) and will take place in University Hall 122.

But if you want to cheer up, you can see the premiere of Tonik Tap’s show, “The Pursuit of Tappyness” at 8 p.m. at Shanley Pavillion. The shows runs until Saturday.

You can also attend Mayfest’s Battle of the DJs at 10 p.m. at Hundo. The best DJ gets a chance to perform on Dillo Day. What better way to forget those horrible midterms and get pumped up for one of the best days of the Northwestern school year?
