amen, NU's financial aid really sucks. At a minimum they could stop increasing tuition more than the rate of inflation. Hands down NU has the stingiest financial aid of any of its peer insitutions.

That's very frustrating. I know I can pay for school out of pocket - as in, I have a college fund that is separate from my family's finances that my grandmother set up for me when I was a kid, but it's still all the money I have for the rest of my schooling, and I plan to go to college and graduate school, so at some point, I see that becoming something of an issue. This sounds like a terrible system that's only helping the people who are, you know, already getting help from people who are better at helping.

Do they teach that at Medill? Attack your target for not being like Harvard, but then point out in paragraph 14 -- to be fair and balanced, no doubt (Journalism 101) -- that NWU has one-fifth the endowment.

That's when you should have written, "Never mind" -- in the tradition of Rosanna Rosanna Danna.

If Northwestern extended its university loan program to undergraduates and lowered its interest rate to under the Stafford loan rates, more students could receive help at a lower cost than the no-loan program.
