Never forget: The first man killed by a robot

On January 25th, 1979, Robert Williams was quietly searching for a part at a Ford Motor Company factory in Michigan. When all of a sudden… WHAM! A robot, whose job was to look for parts in the factory, slapped him in the head with its arm of steel. Williams died instantly.
Williams’ family later sued the Ford Motor Company claiming that the robot had no safety mechanisms that alerted workers to its presence.
So as we get debilitatingly drunk this weekend, let’s pray and keep this robot tragedy ever present in our minds.
