America’s Next Top Model Cycle 11: “The Fiercee Awards”
SPOILER ALERT
Welcome to the Top Model Walk of Fame! This week Tyra and the girls get front row seats to the Fiercee Awards and leave their high fashion mark on Hollywood. The girls learn their signature poses from the one and only Tyra herself, but is it enough to keep every girl out of the hot seat? Only some will make it down the red carpet, but for one the thread ends here.
Back at the house, Analeigh is worried that she can’t step up to the plate with such intense competition in the house. Now, I’m not a proponent of model warfare…but slipping a couple laxatives into the other girls’ drinks so they can’t show up to photo shoots or shaving them bald in their sleep might give you an edge. But you didn’t hear it from me.
The girls are taken to a photo studio and get Tyra mail – actually this time, real LIVE Tyra Mail. Tyra shows up in her sultry mail uniform to inform the girls of this week’s challenge.
Challenge
Tyra is letting the girls figure out their signature poses. First they will discuss what they think is signature about themselves, take some shots and get critiques of the actual photo to try again.
Analeigh wants to use her figure skating skills, but it doesn’t really come across well in the photos. So, the signature pose is still up in the air. McKey is getting gorgeous punched – that is, she is employing her boxing background to work her gorgeous neck. Samantha likes using her hands (”That’s what she said”) in her signature pose. Go Samantha, spirit fingers! Lauren Brie thought that awkward was her best strength, but Tyra says think again. Say hello to the beach blonde surfer girl chick as her signature pose. Sheena needs to learn how to fashionably work those curves, so her signature pose is the cultural dance…Shaka Zulu anyone? Joslyn’s signature pose is her beautiful profile. Something less complicated and abstract to work with I think. Elina’s signature pose “concept” is top model of the world, where she needs to exaggerate her poses; let it go and the magic will happen.
Marjorie, who was arguably the best out of the bunch, got the Hunchback of Notre Dame. Her awkwardness and her nerves payed off though because this signature pose plays on her weaknesses.
And the winner of this week’s challenge was…Marjorie. She decided to choose Analeigh to share her prize and both girls got to select one golden diamond jewelry item from Rafinity, a high-end jewelry store in L.A.
The girls are taken to the Orpheum Theatre in downtown L.A. to recreate embarrassing award show moments while incorporating their signature pose.
Photo Shoot
Marjorie was the girl that has to pee but cant get out of her gown and incorporated her Hunchback of Notre Dame pose – on a toilet seat. Marjorie did a fantastic job though. One pee-pee away from victory!
Samantha acted out an actress reading cue cards but the light is too bright so she has to look away while using her signature pose…which was just hands.
Elina played the overemotional actress. Her signature pose – top model of the world. Jay wants her to let go of her control…and lo and behold the real tears start coming. Move over Dr. Phil, fierce therapy is in session!
Lauren Brie portrayed an actress tripping on the red carpet while employing her surfer chick signature pose. This shoot was problematic because she looked gorgeous but she fell down like a mannequin.
McKey was the girl that thought that she would get the award, but didn’t. Her gorgeous punched signature pose worked great for her in this one. Nice neck work daaaahhhling.
Sheena played the starlet who gets her gown stepped on and signature pose was the cultural dance. I’m sorry Sheena, this one is not your fault. There was simply nothing you could do about this one. Jay says that she was not believable…but who’s fault was it really?
Joslyn played the role of another starlet who steps onto the red carpet wearing the same gown at the awards, which works great with her new signature pose body profile. She got good reviews from Jay and the judges.
Analeigh was the red carpet interviewer with attitude, though her signature pose was still TBD. In the beginning she struggled, but the ultimate solution was pretending to mock the person that she was interviewing.
Panel
In celebration of the theatrical theme this week, Tyra decided to dress up a bit over the top…but Tyra is already over the top so where else is there to go? Well of course she doesn’t disappoint. Clad in a hooded black dress/demenetor cloak-esque garment, she succeeded in actually getting the girls to take her seriously.
The first to be called was Marjorie, second Analeigh.
It came down to Lauren Brie, who the judges thought was lacking personality. The judges say Sheena comes off as too sexy but brings a whole lot of personality, which the judges love.
So who stays? Personality wins this week and Lauren Brie is sent packing.
The competition is heating up and only 7 lucky girls remain. Who will be America’s Next Top Model? Stay tuned.
