“Remembering” dorms slated for demolition
By
Whenever you read an obituary of a famous person in the newspaper, chances are the piece was written long before the celeb hit the dirt. (Apparently the Associated Press has already penned one for Britney.) The Campus Framework Plan dictates destruction of some Northwestern dormitories, so here are their life stories — thus far.

Not to be insensitive, but I think people are over-reacting way too much to this whole issue. First, the buildings discussed are not going to be coming down next week. Northwestern’s plan is a very long-term one which could easily be revised. Secondly, as universities grow, they need to adapt to changing needs. I’m not saying it would be ok to knock down University Hall, but tearing down old buildings and building newer, more useful ones is a part of development and progress. This is a university that needs to serve the needs of its students and departments, and its not a historic time capsule. Also, keep in mind, many of the buildings that are most important to us on campus would not be there if it was our policy to avoid knocking down old buildings.

This is the best news I’ve heard all day. The second that horrible, morally depraved den known as CRC is taken down, the world will be a better place.
