Tickets for Obama rally come — and go to waitlist

Available tickets for Sen. Barack Obama’s election night rally at Grant Park in downtown Chicago appear to have come and gone quickly on Tuesday.
The link to register for a free ticket was sent to Illinois supporters this afternoon (this reporter received it at 2:30 p.m.), but as of 4:35 p.m., the sign-up page redirects to a wait list.
A staffworker from the press office at the campaign’s headquarters — who declined to give her name because she is not an official campaign representative — said around 5 p.m. that she had not yet heard about this development, but if the Web site said there was a waitlist, then there was a waitlist.
The event will take place on Grant Park’s Hutchinson Field, with gates opening at 8:30 p.m. on November 4.
According to the invitation, “an official printed ticket is required for entrance”, and each ticket will be valid for two people. Tickets will be e-mailed out prior to election night. Security will include metal detectors and bags will not permitted inside the park.
Clarification: The original version of this article gave an incorrect title for a staffworker for the Obama campaign.

They need to find another million tickets!

Would like tickets for 4 people for the Grant Park Event on November 4,2008. One of the people attending is 85 years old, so if possible please help us.
Would also like to know about the tickets for January 20,2009 in Washington DC. Your prompt attention will be highly appreciated.
Thank you Jeannie Randle

My grandmother was a member of SCLC in Georgia and I would love to have attended in her honor, to watch as her hopes and dreams come to life. In my lifetime, to see (first hand) that she did not put her life on the line in vein.
