Wright's sermon was delivered on 9/16/01 <b>"The Day of Jerusalem's Fall"</b> Focus Luke 19:37-44

Rev Wright's sermons were not anti-American, racist, or anti-Semitic - listen to the entire sermons. Wright's G** D*** was in a sermon against the Iraq war, against the Bush administration, not the American people. http://tinyurl.com/4x52to

I applaud Rev Wrights for speaking out against the war. My pastor and other pastors preached against the Iraq war, although the style was much different. I could never vote for McCain because of his pushing for war in Iraq, Iran, and Syria within hours of 9/11. McCain told us the war would be quick and not cost very much.

Part of Wright's sermon:

“War does not make for peace. War only makes for escalating violence and a mindset to pay the enemy back by any means necessary,” he said. Wright criticizes the Bush administration & it supporters for using Godly language to justify the war in Iraq. He equates using God in America as condoning the war in Iraq to the same perspective of Islamic fundamentalists

“We say that God will bless the shock and awe as we take over unilaterally another country, calling it a coalition because we’ve got three guys from Australia, going against the United Nations, going against the majority of Christians, Muslims and Jews throughout the world, making a pre-emptive strike in the name of God. We cannot see how what we are doing is the same thing is the same thing that Al-Qaeda is doing under a different color flag calling on the name of a different God to sanction and approve our murder and our mayhem”

Wright's sermon delivered on 4/13/03 “<b>Confusing God and Government"</b>

I whole heartedly agree with the above poster that one person, whether president-elect, FMO president, or black person cannot and does NOT speak on behalf of the entire Black community. Really? And for one to assume is as ridiculous as thinking the views and beliefs of a Bush, McCain or a Palin represent the entire beliefs of white America. In a world where people use their heads and think for themselves instead of letting the media conform their opinons, I guess they do. But in a world where people think for themselves, use reputable resources for their research, have common sense, it's easy to see - they do not. While I do not agree with alot of Rev Wright's statements, I do relate to his views of America as my grandmother has lived to tell a similiar non-militant story being 91 years of age today.
I could go on and on from Jim Crow to civil rights, and most recently this past election. If nothing else, has this election not proved that racism is alive and well in this country no matter how people cling to their BS reasons about the last 22 months? I guess it was OK that both Bill and Hilary Clinton were also supporters of Rev Wright and went to hear sermons of his in the same church. But none of this was ever mentioned for some "odd reason". I'll get off my soapbox now, btw.

Is there any way one can get tickets to this event? If so, please do email me at amdickens@ameritech.net

Clarification:

Although I serve as President of FMO, I have no authority to act as though I represent the entire Black community. We are a community of different beliefs, views, practices, etc. This should be made clear. It states that I am the "official spokesperson", which is the wording of our constitution but by no means should be taken literally. I merely represent the Black community here at NU as it relates to the administration, student groups, events, etc just as other presidents do.
