ESPN host Wilbon to speak on May 1

ESPN sportscaster and “Pardon the Interruption” co-host Michael Wilbon (Medill ‘80) will speak to students at the Owen L. Coon Auditorium on May 1, A&O Productions said Thursday.

Free passes for the 7:30 p.m. show will be available at the Norris Box Office on Monday morning, said Barry McCardel, co-director of promotions and public relations at A&O. Students can pick up two passes per WildCARD. If all of the passes are taken, but seats remain available 10 minutes before the show, A&O will start letting in students who do not have passes.

“Mike is a big Northwestern guy and he really enjoys coming back and going to football games and things like that,” said Adam Pumm, A&O’s speakers and special events director. Wilbon will likely speak about “his time at Northwestern and how that’s helped him in his career to get to where he is,” Pumm said.

A&O has been working with Center for Student Involvement and the Provost’s Office this year with the hopes of bringing alumni speakers to campus, Pumm said. McCardel said A&O combined some of its leftover funds with money from the Alumni Office to fund the event.

  2. Hi Confused,

Thanks for your comment. I e-mailed Barry McCardel, A&O spokesperson, and he said:

“There was a error at the Norris Box Office that affected the tickets that were distributed yesterday. The correct date is in fact the 1st, although we will honor the misprinted tickets. We’re working on making sure that all affected ticket holders are aware, and will update you with anything new.”

    Thanks.
