This week at Northwestern: Get cultured pre-Dillo Day

Monday

Rub the sleep out of your eyes and welcome home the Northwestern women’s lacrosse team, recent winners of a fifth straight NCAA championship, when they return to campus between 9 and 9:30 a.m. at Patten Gym. Then head over to NU Habitat for Humanity’s tennis tournament (which starts at 9 a.m.) at the outdoor tennis courts along Sheridan Road. Oh yeah, and stop for a second on your day off to think about Memorial Day.

Tuesday

At 8 p.m. on Tuesday night, the African Students Association is hosting its annual Africafe, a festival “packed with song, poetry and spoken word.” The event takes place at 1914 Sheridan Road. If you want to de-stress a little before the event, consider CAPS’ biofeedback training session at 12 p.m. at 619 Emerson to learn how much nervous energy you’re releasing, and thus have a better understanding of how and when to deal with it.

Wednesday

After getting to know all the Wildcat lacrosse players on Monday, be on hand to officially celebrate their five-peat at 4 p.m. in Welsh-Ryan Arena. At 7 p.m. in the Multicultural Center (1936 Sheridan Rd.), students have organized a forum to discuss racial profiling on campus. The event will feature student speakers and NUPD Commander Darren Davis and Lieutenant Ronald Godby.

Thursday

A dramatic rock painting and outdoor performance were all just preludes to the annual throw-down in Shanley. Wrestlepocalypse III debuts at 8 p.m. in Shanley Auditorium and goes up again at 8 and 11 p.m. on Friday night.

Friday

On Dillo Eve, Northwestern offers some of its finest entertainment of the year. At 8 p.m., the Undergraduate Chemistry Council throws its explosion-filled Eberhard show on North Beach. At 9 p.m. on Norris East Lawn, Mayfest will screen “Dark Side of Oz,” a mash-up of Pink Floyd’s album Dark Side of the Moon and The Wizard of Oz. Then, get some sleep folks, because you won’t get much of it the next day.
