Mike Posner: I’m officially playing Dillo Day

Updated, 12:56 p.m. on May 27: Mayfest has officially announced Mike Posner as Dillo Day’s fourth artist. He will be performing directly after The Decemberists, said Mayfest Co-Chair Diana Richter.

Mike Posner said he has been officially signed to perform at Dillo Day next Saturday.

“I’m super excited,” Posner said. “It’s going to be awesome.”

The performer and Duke University junior said he will be arriving at Northwestern the day before the concert, where he’ll be performing at 4 p.m. after The Decemberists.

Mayfest co-chair Diana Richter said Mayfest still could not officially announce a Posner performance.

Posner said he doesn’t plan on just performing though — he’s also looking forward to seeing the other artists.

“I’d love to see Estelle, definitely, and N.E.R.D is amazing,” he said. “I’ve seen them before.”

He said he hopes his Northwestern debut will be crazier than a recent performance at the University of Dayton.

For those who want to see Posner other than at Dillo Day, you can find out where he’ll be by following him on Twitter.

  2. actual news traanslation: still no good acts brought for Dillo Day. What happened to the days of getting George Clinton?

  4. Who the fuck is Mike Posner? Although I don’t care if we get good acts for Dillo Day, and I dont think we’re entitled to have some rock legend, its obvious that this headline is written to make this insignificant addition to the lineup sound impressive. You put his name up there as though he is a household name.

  6. If I ever get my hands on those seventh-grade love poems Mike, they’re going on ebay faster than your shallow attempt at artistry will spiral into a black hole of destruction.

  10. I think now is an appropriate time to call for the impeachment of the entire Mayfest executive board.

Hopefully I’ll blackout early on in the day so I don’t have to sit through acts like Estelle and Mike Posner.

    Sorry, but we have to

Dillo Day hasn’t always been a mini-Lola, so students should expect for the quality of acts to decline in a recession year based on:

    1. Limited dollars
    2. Decreased artist availability due to less tours (people are spending less on concerts)

Dillo Day probably won’t rebound until 2011, so rejoice young sophomores!

  12. Just Saying: Nearly all of A&O’s acts this year (Death Cab, Ludacris, RJD2) have been better than most of these Dillo acts. I’ll single out N.E.R.D. as a good choice.

So, Just Saying, you might want to resign now before the impeachment trials begin.

  13. A&O isn’t restricted to one day a year to bring artists. They can work with artists and pick days that work well for their tour dates.
