College Drinker: Goes Down Smooth

If you shudder thinking about the burning sensation that accompanies bottom-shelf vodka, know it’s avoidable. The key is knowing what to mix it with. Here are a few drinks heavy drinkers and light-weights alike will be able to enjoy responsibly for all of Dillo Day.

Captain’s Cream Soda
1 ¼ oz Captain Morgan’s Spiced Rum
7UP
Fill a glass with 7UP, and add rum and ice. The spice in Captain Morgan’s gives lemon-lime that cream soda taste.

Brown Cow from Hell
1 oz Hershey’s chocolate syrup
1 oz Kahlua
Milk
For a twist on your favorite post-recess drink, pour chocolate syrup and Kahlua into a tall glass. Add
1 1/2 cups of milk and stir well.

Malibu Pineapple

1 ¼ oz Malibu rum
Pineapple juice
Pour the Malibu into a short glass (or red cup) and fill the rest with pineapple juice. The result is a sweet and delicious cocktail with a distinctly Caribbean feel.

Long Island Iced Tea
1 oz vodka
1 oz tequila
1 oz rum
1 oz gin
1 oz triple sec
1 ½ oz sweet and sour mix
Coca-Cola
Mix everything together in a tall glass with ice and top it off with a splash of Coca-Cola. Pour into a shaker, and give one quick shake. Pour back into the glass.

Cherry Cheesecake Shooter

Vanilla Schnapps
Cranberry juice
Most people with an aversion to alcohol have an inherent fear of shots, but this will change your opinion. Fill a shot glass halfway with vanilla Schnapps. Pour the cranberry juice lightly to form a layer on top. Tip: Pour the juice onto the back of a spoon, and let it flow gently into the shot glass.
