North by Northwestern’s cell phone guide

We are pleased to announce our debut of the North by Northwestern cell phone guide. Last May, NBN staffers made more than 200 calls from 20 sites in 9 buildings across campus. Staffers called a Google Voice account, which recorded the calls and ensured consistency on the receiving end. If a call didn’t connect from a site on the first try, staffers tried at least twice more.

If you’ve ever wondered which company will get you the best and most reliable service, look no further. Listen to the results yourself.

Disclaimer: Please note that readers’ results may vary at these locations. NBN’s results were often varied depending on the phone model as well as the phone’s release date, which can also factor into the signal strength of a given phone in any location. In addition, reception may have changed since the date of testing.

  2. Verizon doesn’t offer a student discount, though… I know T-Mobile does, but make sure you ask around.
