Fearing for my life on “Kick a Ginger Day”

Kevin Smith, Bienen sophomore, seems absolutely terrified. He should be. Photo by Katie Tang / North by Northwestern.

Friday is “Kick a Ginger Day”. Naturally, as a ginger myself, I’m scared. I received the Facebook event notification earlier this week. I didn’t know the person who invited me; she had sent the invite to everyone on her friend list, which isn’t a surprise. Hatred of redheads seems to be a growing fad, and while it is, historically speaking, nothing new, the origin of this particular upswing in ginger-bashing can be precisely traced to a single TV show.

The “Ginger Kids” episode of South Park, which first aired in 2005, brought with it a slew of fresh redhead stereotypes for a generation that had never even heard the term “ginger” before. And while the episode is extremely funny, the campaign against redheads which it spawned is anything but. You’ve probably heard the gingerists’ mantras by now. Gingers are hideous. Gingers can’t go out in the sunlight. Gingers have no souls. We’re basically like vampires without the fangs or the Edward Cullen sex appeal. And even though, after being transformed into a befreckled redhead, the already soul-less Eric Cartman sees the error in his gingerphobic ways, this lessen has been lost on viewers. In a culture where ethnic humor is taboo and racist or sexist jokes end in campus-wide discussions, gingers have become the comedic target du jour.

On mischief night, I got hit by an egg as someone in a passing car shouted “Gingers suck!”

I have been reeling from all the extra attention. Before college, my hair never provoked anything worse than curiosity (unless you consider “Ron Weasley” an insult). I even received regular compliments from hairstylists and old people. I tried my best to dispel the “redheads are going extinct” rumor (insulting as both a redhead and a bio major), and I lamented when redhead celebrities like Lindsay Lohan fell victim to Hollywood’s obsession with dyed blonde hair. Life was simpler before South Park.

Then, as the years following the “Ginger Kids” episode passed, the jokes started to pick up. Friends would ask me if I was a day walker. Drunken passerbys accused me of lacking a soul. On mischief night, I got hit by an egg as someone in a passing car shouted “Gingers suck!” I wasn’t really surprised by the negative attention; I always knew I was different, and I was almost surprised it took so long. I just figured the whole fad would blow over in a couple years.

It hasn’t. In fact, my roommates have started calling me “ginge” on a daily basis. They complain about “maximum redhead capacity” when I bring red-haired friends over. Even a fellow redhead roommate has turned to the dark side: his staple comeback is to call me a dirty ginger, his self-hating ways necessary to survive in a gingerphobic house. They’re just joking, they tell me, and to be honest, I believe them. But what about the person who started the “Kick a Ginger Day” Facebook event? Or the thousands who intend to “attend?” I can’t be certain about anyone. Who can tell when a series of harmless jokes, unchecked by media attention, historical context or community support groups, will become an all-out, Cartman-style crusade against redheads? How do I know my shins are safe?

Despite this slippery slope, there may be a bright future for redheads. In my conversations with fellow “gingers” this year, I’ve felt a real sense of solidarity. We know that we have to stick together in this scary world. Others have reached out to help. A thoughtful individual has renamed Friday “International Hug a Ginger Day” to compete with its kicking cousin (which has since been removed from Facebook), and I intend to celebrate this more peaceful alternative. If you want, I promise to accept your hugs with open arms.

  1. As a fellow redhead here is a hug. I had no idea it was National Kick a Ginger day but I think I might just stay in the house now.

My experience being a redhead has been mostly positive. And often funny. If someone does display anger it is usually due to envy as was the case here http://www.redheadranting.com/are-redheads-better-in-bed/. I’m not so sure my redheaded brother has had the same experience however as redheaded women are still considered hot ( I read somewhere they get an automatic +2 handicap for being redheads).

My daughter wishes to be anything but a redhead which comes from going to Target as a toddler and having blue haired women touch her and say “Ooh, I want your hair!” being a literal thinker at that time she was afraid they would take her hair causing much pain. She just started to growl at them very loudly. Still does on occasion.

We aren’t evil, unless we are crossed and then watch out. For non redheads they ought to imagine what it would be like to be picked out in crowds from a very young age. Growing up it was always my brother and me who were busted when kids played ding-ding-ditch or other neighborhood games. The other kids all looked alike but we stood out. The non redheads would be a little cranky too if they were always blamed, touched, pointed at and scorned.

    They are just jealous.
    Hugs!

  12. We shouldn’t blame the show but rather kill the people who started this stupid holiday and blamed it on South Park. Because not even gingers deserve this much torture. I mean isnt being weird looking enough.

  13. I do not agree with making a club just for red heads. I was completely enraged when I found out about Kick a Ginger Day. I myself, am not a ginger, but I did have strawberry blonde hair as a child. I was kicked, my boyfriend, who is a ginger, was kicked. It is saying something extremely negative to our societies if we let people follow through with things like this. What if there was ‘Kick a Homosexual Day’ or ‘Kick an Asian Day’. How is that any different? what about ‘Kick a blonde Day’?. People disgust me at things that they take so far. Ignorance is unacceptable and completely intolerable. People are people. No matter the skin colour, hair colour, gender, sexual preference, religion, or social class. It is who they are INSIDE that makes them who they are, not on the outside. It’s 2009 everyone. If we act like this continually, then we are going to be in a heap of ignorance.
I do not blame this necesarily on South Park, although it was a huge contributer. People can make their own decisions on how they treat people.

  16. quit blaming south park! even the gingers and daywalkers fuss amongst themselves as to who, is what!!! i am 38 yrs old and recall thinking some horrible thoughts about those red-head(often….frizzy haired)…ppl. i know it’s mean….but i’m honest. i was a kid growing up in grade school. i can even recall this red-head(without freckles)…being made fun of the entire year in 1st grade! the only red-heads that can pull it off are the ones who are like julia roberts, etc…same with the men. how many of them can u honestly say are even attractive?? then when they go and burn their hair up by using a flat iron, dying it either dark or blonde….it just adds to the mess! i’m sorry….they ALL just seem to have that “dirty”….look…i can’t explain it….it’s a sad thing though. all this talk of…”i’m a daywalker…i have a “soul”….and so on….is a word game. look….we live in a society where ppl are brutally honest. so….soul, or no soul….you are seen the same by everyone from all generations, that, unfortunately find that recessive “gene” not attractive. if i was in a position like these red-heads who aren’t attractive….i sure wouldn’t add to the oddness by burning my hair. i’m sorry…but the only red-heds that are hot/sexy are the ones who have a beautiful face/features. that’s just the truth. they can be as nice on the inside as they want, as anyone else…..but the truth hurts. i am female….and, i would NEVER even kiss a ginger…

  17. B. Thomas.
You really have some ignorance welling up in the red head hated mind of yours. What makes you think that they are any worse than the rest of us just because they have red hair?
as i said in my previous comment, people are people. How they act, and how they treat people is what I base all my opinions of people on. Not by gender, race, hair colour.
They do not look dirty. How dare you say something so demeaning to people. They are still the same as us.
It’s like saying all blondes are stupid. Completely unnecesary.
Your “truth” is your own opinion, and I’m taking the time to say that your opinion is disapointing.
I have seen many unattractive people, guess what, they dont have to be a red head.
I think red head’s have a great quality to them, they are unique.
People dye their hair all the time. It can look horrible on brunettes, on blondes, and people who have black hair.
I’m actually repulsed by your comment.
Have the decency to keep your opinion to yourself next time about how you are so ignorant to the world. Not everyone thinks like you. God help the ones that do.
    Have a nice day.

  19. I’m a natural ginger, though for most of my high school and college careers my hair was colored. About two years ago I went back to my ginger roots, shocking people who had known me for years but had never know my true hair color. I got a lot of positive reactions, but what surprised me the most were the negative reactions. People immediately began calling me all sorts of names, including “the ginger binger” (because apparently all gingers are alcoholics?) and, for my British friends, “ginger minger,” which means “ugly.” I was appalled, but wore my red locks proudly for some time.

I colored my hair black again a few months ago–not because of the harassment but because I needed a change–and the comments have subsided somewhat, but people still accuse me of just trying to hid the fact that I’m a dirty ginger. Quite frankly, I find red hair beautiful.

Gingerphobia has never been a widespread problem in the US (outside of the occasional bullying), but it has been in the UK and many Commonwealth countries. It’s really distressing to see this sort of anti-ginger bias now taking root in the states.

  20. I just had to comment on this atrocity!!! I am Latino, growing up in East Los Angeles I recall a few kids with red hair growing up, but they weren’t ever harassed like this. Even the Mexican gangs are diverse here in Southern California accepting of others of different races. Racism is BullSh*t!!! Till this day I have a friend who has red hair, and I think he is Awesome and very witty! He always makes me laugh he is a good guy. Kill the nonsense and educate your children about being bias and hateful towards others of different colors and races. If I seen anyone getting bullied because of their race or color I would definitely step in and Kick some ass if I have to!

  21. I had no idea that this was even happening to be honest, and I do think that South Park episode is awesome. But- I’ve had red hair my whole life and would never change it. I don’t think my husband won’t let me even if I wanted to. My hair is one of the things I like best about my outsides.

But- B. Thomas’s comment is just downright nauseating. You’re mistaking ‘being honest’ with being ignorant and shallow. Any guy worth anything wouldn’t hang around you long enough to kiss you anyway. If you’ve got a man, then he’s a shallow mouth breather just like you. Please don’t have kids.

    Redheads not Warheads

    November 30, 2009 at 2:59 pm

  22. This is stupid and only an issue for immature kids. Once someone is out of the playground mentality of school and enters the real world this will not be an issue because you will get fired. Kids are idiots. They will collectively find a reason to pick on anyone for any reason because by putting someone else down it makes them feel more secure. This “kick a ginger day” is just another shade of the bully/clique mentality that goes with being a kid. I’m not defending it, just pointing out that it is merely a variation on something that has been around since Adam was a boy. If you are fat, wear glasses, dumb, smart, etc, etc, kids will find a way to collectively gang up an bully.

Shame on them! Shame on anyone who would Kick a Ginger or Kick a Jew. Shame on everyone that accepted that Facebook Event invitation.

  25. I am a redhead (and love it by the way) and I thought the South Park episode was outrageously hilarious. I love Cartman’s sedistic and manipulative attitude and the guy who does his voice. What really irritates me though, is the term “Ginger”. I’m saying that if we want to stop being annoyed with it, then WHY DO WE KEEP USING THE TERM OTHERS TRIED TO BRAND US WITH! I hate being called ginger!

As for the “Kick a Ginger Day”….WHAT A LOAD OF F***ING BULL S***!!! YOU TRY TO F*** WITH ME AND I’LL F***ING BEAT YOUR A**!

Whoever started this day to me, is only one step away from having the same mental outlook as Hitler had on the Jewish and some other people.

  26. I first learned about this ‘Kick a ginger day’ last week, I myself am a ginger and I must admit I was pretty mad about this. Whoever came up with this should be ashamed of themselves, it doesn’t matter whether it was a joke or not because kids will still take it sriously and will lead to no good. Just because you have red hair it doesn’t mean that you’re any different then the rest of the people in the world. All the stereotypes that they have for red heads are simply ridiculous!

  27. I think that it is very sad that anyone would be judged by their race or hair color. It is very similar to what Hitler did with the Jewish people. It is scary how some people openly join into gang mentality. Thank God for all the people who stand up for each other.

  28. I had no idea that this was such a big deal. I mean, honestly, blondes a longer history of discrimination than gingers, why isn’t anyone standing up for them?? Because it is a HAIR COLOR. No one really cares. It is your personality and how you act, and maybe occaisonally someone will make references to stereotypes of your hair color, but only because it actually is FUNNY! The south park episode is funny! And as a blonde, I too appreciate blonde jokes. Even the truly dirty ones.

  33. WOW!….i didn’t know my comment would illicit such return comments. well, atleast people actually read others opinions(as i do)….even if i agree or not. i actually appreciate those of u who took the time to verbally “bless” me on here, but….that’s freedom of speech and i’m so glad we ALL can agree/disagree on sites as these…and have the FREEEDOM to actually spout off at those whom we don’t agree with, etc. i won’t justify my prev. comment. all i can say, is that…we ALL have our opinions. i know what “I” think and what “I” saw growing up and the hell these ppl went thru(i was always the kind girl in class and befriended the gingers, etc….my parents taught me to be kind to them and i actually DID feel sorry for them))….and i don’t condone brutality for ANY reason, to another living being…red-head….or not. THAT is a whole other issue. i simply speak the truth from my point of view. and i certainly don’t need to reply to ppl on a “personal” level here about who would want to be around me, etc.(as i’m already well aware of that, as well as my capabilities of the stature of company i keep/attract))….let’s just say….i’m a half and half mix of irish and native american indian and have an african-american fiance. “IT IS…WHAT, IT IS”….when it comes to this GINGER thing…or whatever “label” society wants to put on it. i DO feel bad that there is an actual “day” for these people to be harmed. i am NOT sorry for speaking my opinion as i have seen it thru my lifetime(in MANY states) here in the USA as well as how i feel they are so unattractive 99% of the time. as i did say before, there are some red-heads who are natural and have the looks to go with it(although very rare). i just haven’t seen that many. if that makes me “shallow”….or anything else to some people…that’s ok. i’m not gonna hate on someone and judge them based on a site that is about “Ginger’s”, etc. i respect the fact that some don’t see things thru my eyes….just as i don’t see things thru other’s eyes. if we all agree or not, with each other, is not the point of this blog…or, atleast i HOPE not. if so…ALL of us are being wronged. my bottom line is:…violence for any reason is WRONG!…but to have an “opinion” about a certain “look”..is just that….A MATTER OF OPINION. last, but not least….thanks for sharing yours with me. oh…btw, growing up…in jr. high, i had a best friend who had that Ginger look. it was a bit toned-down from her dad’s side of the family!(thank goodness, for HER sake!)…HE actually scared me! i recall being in 6th gr. and seeing him the 1st time. they ALL seemed to have a lizard-reptile look to their eyes and just an overall scary appearance. even, my friend knew i was terrified. i tried to hide it. but, she was use to it. a friend would visit once and never go to her house again. their home was beautiful too! well, my friend’s eyes still had that reptile look, but her mother had an entire different look and black hair, etc. so, my friend didn’t have such prounounced spooky features, but her older sister did. i can recall long nights of us looking at teenage mags at my house, trying to find hints, etc….as what to do to help that red frizzy hair she had and so on. she’s my close friend to this day, but knows i speak the truth…and respects me for that. now…if someone went after her or anyone else i cared about, regardless of the “reason”, color of hair, race, sexual orientation, etc….i’ll be the 1st one to stand up for them. BUT, i WILL NOT lie about my views about the non-attractiveness i see in these individuals, just to not upset anyone.i didn’t say it wasn’t SAD…but if u poll a majority…you would see, it’s true. i do hope the “kick a ginger” day…event, or, whatever it’s called… now, or in the future…ceases. THAT is violence and just becuz i don’t like the look these ppl have, doesn’t mean i believe they should be harmed. now….Julia Roberts…she’s a WHOLE other story….but, then, again….i don’t know what she’s catagorized as. i just know her natural redish hair and her dark eyes and her adoring- beautiful facial features…are amazing. she’s pale and amazing. but, i imagine that’s comparing apples to oranges under this sub. and it’s not south park’s fault, either. WHERE did the writers get that idea from, anyway?? had to come from somewhere…(and i don’t even watch that show)

  45. It’s all great fun until someone gets hurt, and let me tell you over in England, the hatred of redheads is so intense that it won’t be long before someone is stabbed to death. And when it happens, people will laugh. And then it will happen again. And again. I wish I lived in America, where I could at least defend myself with firearms if necessary.

    Mo

    December 26, 2009 at 11:19 am

  46. MO:…wow! that is very sad to know that you feel that if you lived in America, you could defend yourself with firearms(we have enuff gun violence as it is.. here!). Maybe it’s best you don’t live in America, becuz…simply bucuz firearms are “legal” to carry for many…doesn’t give one the “right” to use them just “becuz they are ginger, etc….”. Here, in America…we have many freedoms, and with those freedoms, come many responsibilities. ANY type of “self-defense” action you may claim in the USA….when using a “firearm”…STILL will be investigated and looked into very carefully. That’s the mistake made quite often with people who come here(to the USA)…in hopes they can carry a firearm on their person. I would suggest staying in your country of origin and use your voice to make change there. Coming to the USA and having a “firearm” may cause you way much more trouble than and grief, than being where you are. “To whom which much is given….much is expected”. Think several times over..BEFORE using a firearm as your solution, no matter WHERE u are.

    B. Thomas

  47. Also, to “MO”…i am in NO way suggesting using any weapon on any other person….but it was interesting that my young son commented to me when i brought up this specific comment you posted…he said…”ok mom…why can’t they carry a knife and stab in defense?”….good question! “out of the mouths of babes.”

  50. kick me i fucking dare anyone to just try, this shit is so stupid id literally beat the shit out of anyone who would try to kick me, no ones tried. Redheads are more human than any other race of people or type of person, we feel more pain/touch. While your at it create a national kick a black person day, or how about kick a blind person, you know what fuck it, well have a national kick a person bc they are different day!!! yay i cant wait

  51. B. Thomas, you are clearly a cunt. Look at your first posting, then look at your last. This quote is despicable, among others. “so….soul, or no soul….you are seen the same by everyone from all generations, that, unfortunately find that recessive “gene” not attractive.” By grouping all redheads into one uniform group, you are a racist. Good job. “they can be as nice on the inside as they want, as anyone else…..but the truth hurts. i am female….and, i would NEVER even kiss a ginger…” However, you are clearly in good company with many others who are racist against redheads. So, enjoy yourself as a racist cunt, while I continue to attract women left and right who comment on how much they love my hair (among other things 8=================D ). So, you triflin’ b*tch, you ought to check your references before posting something that is 100% opinion and look like a retard again. BTW i find it hilarious that you are racist against “gingers,” but not only would you never dare to write/utter the prescribed slave name for black people, you are marrying a black person. WOW. it should also be noted that it is not technically correct to refer to black people as “african americans,” as this title incorrectly groups together several other types of black people, like Caribbeans and Africans. Aforementioned cunt, please don’t be flattered by the fact that I took time out of my night to write this, because I enjoyed every second of it. I happen to be one of those redheads who will not stand for being kicked on kick a ginger day, if it is ever “celebrated” again.
    B. Thomas, I really do hope that you never have children.

SOUNDS LIKE SHE IS VERY UNSURE OF HERSELF..WHY DO YOU CARE? AND B.THOMAS IS VERY ABUSIVE, I WOULD SUGGEST HER “FRIEND” FIND SOMEONE WHO DOESN’T VERBALLY AND MENTALY ABUSE THEM..

  59. How immature can you get. It was a skit on a tv show you don’t have to port it into real life. It’s things like this that makes me fear for our future as a society.
To B. Thomas: I’m sorry to here you find redheads unattractive but don’t speak for everyone because women always compliment my hair color even as a young kid. I was even thretened recently by my female friends that if I ever dyed my hair that I would “[...]come to harm” So keep you comments to youself and don’t speak for everyone.

  64. i feel bad for south park being accused of this riot. Sure it is true that they made the episode but isnt it those who indulged in such act that should be punished not the show. I enjoy this show completely and dont hate one ounce of it because of that show why should i anyway its just a show everything is just a show it might have been uneasing when i found out that people were actually kicking “gingers”. I knew some kids who had gotten beating up because of this during this awkward stage my best friend had been extremely scared so she dyed her hair. she started avoiding me and i was completely confused. Then i found out that the popular kids had decided to befriend her because she changed her hair so she left me but i forgive her now.

  65. to jenni puteni..most of us adults understand what you said completely. it was i believe 14 year olds who created the facebook page..and it took off..

however what is said here by “some” adults..is disgusting.
one on this site in particular..which has used other
“kick a ginger” sites..with similar blogs seems to have a
personal problem with a certain person who happens to be a “ginger”

WONDER WHY THE WAR IS STILL GOING?

  66. So the “popular” kids befriended a person when she changed her hair color?

Jenni you never gave your age..

    Really Jenni think about this!!!

What is your “friend” going to do when the popular “kids” pick apart others including others like herself..? for Whatever reason.?

She is either going to play along
Or she is going to realize “popular” “kids” are just like everyone else.

  70. Like Alex, I am not a natural redhead (I’m actually blonde), but I dyed it because I love red hair. Every time I look in the mirror, I am reminded of my red hair and it makes me ridiculously happy. The other day someone saw me in dim lighting and thought I had freckles, too. Even though what they were really seeing were blemishes and pimples, I was honestly flattered, as I have always thought freckles were cute and sexy. My ex-husband had freckles and was red-headed as a child, and, while his hair turned brown by the time we met, I always thought his freckles were uber-sexy, and I was very disappointed that neither of our children had red hair. Anything that makes you stand out from the crowd is a potential asset, but red hair, in my opinion, is one of the best features a person can have.

  71. THIS IS WHAT THIS SITE IS REALLY FOR.
WE ALL ARE IN THE HUMAN RACE.
I’M SO GLAD FOR BEING WHO I AM.
I DONT CARE WHAR OTHERS THINK..GOOD OR BAD
    I LIKE MYSELF.
BUT IT IS SO REFRESHING TO SEE THE GOOD IN PEOPLE.

NOT EVERYONE IS “AIRING THEIR DIRTY LAUNDRY” FOR THE WORLD TO SEE.

MAYBE WE CAN CREATE A WEBSITE FOR ALL THESE WONDEFUL COMMENTS.
    I’M JUST SAYING….

WE CAN CREATE A BETTER WORLD TO LIVE IN.

    LOVE YA

HAPPY TO HAVE REAL PEOPLE IN MY LIFE

    March 28, 2010 at 4:38 pm

  72. Yes you are right. We do need to create a website for positive remarks.
Their are all kinds of websites…out there.

Let the negative people go have their negative life.
    Rats will drown in it.

WE CAN MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE.

    I second that!

    March 28, 2010 at 4:56 pm

  73. First of all I’d like to say that i am outraged on this “hit/kick a ginger day” and the wave of hate it spawned towards gingers. Even though that facebook page is now offline, the effects are still present and will linger on into the future. It’s sad.
Perhaps the person that started this ment it as a joke (not funny), or perhaps he did intend to create this wave of hate.

If I would have been a ginger and something would have happend to me i’d not only press charges against the people that did deliberatly harm me, but also try and sue the original creator of that facebook page. Don’t get me wrong, i’m not a hateful person but how many gingers got a beating that day? How many cried? How many got bruises? How many got scared to go to school, to go out and so on. I have even heared of a case where the child in question had to be hospitalized.
A simple sorry doesn’t cut it here.
And I’d be happy to take it 1 step further. It’s (a form) of rascism. The UN describe rasicm as follows,
i quote: “the term “racial discrimination” shall mean any distinction, exclusion, restriction or preference based on race, colour, descent, or national or ethnic origin which has the purpose or effect of nullifying or impairing the recognition, enjoyment or exercise, on an equal footing, of human rights and fundamental freedoms in the political, economic, social, cultural or any other field of public life”
And if I’m not mistaken, there was a certain man between 1939-1945 who also targeted a certain group of people and blamed, touched, pointed at, scorned (and much worse) them.

This “funnyguy” is directly responsible for all the gingers that had a hard time all over the world. For example. If I tell person A to stab a person B. I am to be held responsible and accountable for that action, because I knowingly and deliberatly caused pain to person B. But person A is also responsible, his morals should have prevented him into agreeing with me.

In my opinion the South Park episode “gingervitus” was not inted against gingers. The gingers were just the medium to bring over a message. “Beware of manipulation, dont follow any 1 man blindly but dare think for yourselfs.”
The blame rests not with the creators of SouthPark, but with intolerant people whom are to stupid and blind to see a deeper meaning of this specific episode. Trey Parker and Matt Stone are actually smart people, and understand that humor is a way of releaving tension and is a way to criticise the things that are wrong with our society. For example, SouthPark is very hard on jews (ref to Kyle) but Matt Stone is Jewish (his mom is jewish, which makes him jewish as well. look it up Jewdiïsm works that way :p) He may not believe in the Jewish faith, but he is still Jewish, which makes him ethnically Jewish.

It relieves me, in some way, that because of all this gingers do tend to hang on tighter together :) But please, don’t exclude non-gingers ;)

    And on a personal note:
I find natural gingers very attractive. My gf is a ginger and i just love the way the sunlight is reflected by her beautiful red hair.
Whenever I hit a hard patch, trouble or whatever gets me down. The sight of her golden-red hair waving in the wind gives me all the strength I need to get back up again and face all those problems at once. She’s prowd of her natural haircolour, and so am I. And so should all gingers.

Small Facts: Approximately 1% to 2% of the human population has red hair. It occurs more frequently (between 2% and 6% of the population) in northern and western Europeans, and their descendants, and at lower frequencies throughout other parts of the world.
–> What this implies is that gingers (the haircolour, not the person (no offence :p )) are more special then all the other haircolours, just because they’re less of them ;)

Call me crazy and a freak but I asked my gf for just a few hairs to put in the clear pendant around my neck, so I can always keep what makes her so beautiful close to my heart.
A picture doesn’t cut it, it doesn’t have the same shine :p

And now, if you’ll all excuse me. I’m gonne watch the SouthPark Gingervitus again and laugh my *** off :)

  75. Kids do indeed do stupid things, and it’s up to the parents to straighten them out. If they don’t, the community should take it upon themselves to do it for them. If parents are unfit at parenting, they shouldn’t have kids in the first place.

And it’s not about letting things go. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Just remember that your freedom ends, where your fellow mans freedom begins.

  78. It’s not just South Park. Australian comedy show Summer Heights High popularised the term ‘Ranga’ (Orangutan), and ever since then, I can’t walk to school without strangers hurling verbal abuse at me as I pass. They say it’s all ‘a bit of fun’, but when you look at the consequences it can have and the effects it can have on people, then it really becomes more serious. For instance, 13-yo Kelsey Winter’s suicide after years of torment over her red hair and freckles. It’s good to know there are people who are just as outraged by all of this as I am.
