I’ve read with interest the letter disputing the university’s figures for moving all staff to the living wage. The UK living wage campaign has included struggles – and victories — at several universities. I would love to learn more about your efforts at Northwestern, but I was disappointed to find that I could not access yor article on why students are supporting the campaign in this issue. Is there any chance you could let me have sight of the article? I’d be happy to share information on what is happening in the UK living wage campaign with activists at your university.
All the best,

Hey,
In the print version of NBN it said that more photos from the SASA show would be made available here…just wondering are they going to get posted some time soon?
Thanks

I just picked up a copy of the Spring 2010 North By Northwestern magazine, and I wanted to comment on one thing. On page 16, a page titled “Down Dempster” Angie Jaime draws the reader’s attention to Thee Fish Bowl. I have lived in Evanston since 1982, and went often, for a number of years, to obtain supplies for my cats and dogs. UNTIL they started carrying puppies. Angie may not understand that any pet store that carries puppies is an unethical pet store. Any pet store that carries puppies is obtaining those puppies from unethical breeders. Ethical breeders do not keep puppies in metal cages. They do not allow their puppies to be purchased by individuals who have not been screened by them. Anyone who goes into into Thee Fish Bowl and makes a purchase is supporting an unethical, exploitative operation. Responsible pet stores schedule adoption events where dogs and cats from local shelters are brought in for potential owners to visit with and possibly take home. Thee Fish Bowl is not a responsible pet store, and, actually It is a very sad place for anyone who understands what is going on and what is at stake.
