What should be done about A&O ticket sales?

This year in particular, ticket sales for A&O concerts have been a hot commodity. People stood in line for hours to get tickets for B.J. Novak and Flight of the Conchords, selling out the shows in about 45 minutes and leading to scalping afterward. And it’s happening again. With Counting Crows and Wild Sweet Orange coming to the Riviera on April 10, restrictions about ticket sales got tougher — just two tickets per WildCARD-carrying student. So is A&O doing a good job, and should anything be done about the ticket frenzy?

The Northwestern men’s basketball team came oh-so-agonizingly-close to stunning the rattled but high-ranked Indiana Hoosiers on Saturday night at Welsh-Ryan Arena. North by Northwestern went to the big game, and covered the epic contest from several different angles. Writer James Drabinsky liveblogged the game, while fellow staffer Todd Johnson videtaped the Wildcat fans’ reactions throughout the rollercoaster-game. The two writers came together with Patrick St. Michel to analyze the match-up in a podcast.

Weinberg junior Andrew Thompson’s campus political group supports the only remaining presidential candidate who hasn’t won a primary election.

Thompson runs Northwestern Students for Ron Paul and organizes student involvement in the libertarian obstetrician’s campaign.

Least favorite primary candidate: John Edwards, until he dropped out.

Least favorite aspect of politics: The emphasis on name-calling and labeling instead of on dialogue.

Least favorite thing about Ron Paul: The formal campaign could be better organized, but perhaps it can’t keep up with the demand of the campaign’s grassroots growth.
