Wrestling Big Ten Championships – Saturday/Sunday
This weekend, the Big Ten’s best wrestlers will head to Welsh-Ryan Arena for some good, old-fashioned gladiatorial fun. The conference possesses some of the best collegiate wrestlers in the country, with Iowa winning the national championship the last three years and Minnesota winning in 2007. In fact, in the last 35 years, Iowa has won 23 championships. This year,Iowa, Minnesota and Penn State are all in the top five nationally. Chicago Blackhawks vs. Carolina Hurricanes – 7:30 pm Friday
If you’re willing to shell out a few bucks and head down to the city, there’s no better time than this weekend to attend a Chicago Blackhawks hockey game. While your friends are dancing, this is your time to see the defending Stanley Cup champions in action. You can get tickets starting at $20 on Stubhub. To catch the 35-23-6 Blackhawks, who are second in their division, head over to the United Center for the Friday night faceoff.
Northwestern Women’s Tennis vs. Texas – 11 am Saturday
The ‘Cats, ranked ninth in the country, will take on the 24th ranked Longhorns this Saturday at the Combe Tennis Center. The matchup, which offers free admission to the public, brings back bad memories for Northwestern, who fell to Texas 6-1 last season. Keep an eye out for All-American Maria Mosolova, who ranks at No. 25 in the nation, is undefeated in singles play this year. If that’s not enough to entice you, at least go for the free pizza.
