In their first event as collaborators, A&O Productions and Block Cinema will present a free screening of award-winning film Casablanca in Block Museum’s Pick-Laudati Auditorium Thursday.
The screening will be shown on 35mm-format film to replicate the experience of the film’s past audiences.
“There will be a noticeable difference when watching the movie,” co-committee chair Charlotte Melbinger said. “The film is going to look very rich and beautiful.”
The Weinberg senior said the two sponsoring organizations are very excited for the event and chose to show the “timeless classic” in honor of their first event partnership. They hope the screening’s success will bloom into further collaborations in the near future.
Directed by Michael Curtiz and starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman, this 1940s romantic drama was voted all-time best romantic movie by the American Film Institute.
“Casablanca is one of the best films of all time,” Melbinger said, “and we are very excited to give students the rare opportunity to see such a classic movie on the big screen.”
The showing will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday. Seating is limited.
