Face-off: How'd you sleep on your first night?

Hey freshmen, how did you sleep on your first night at Northwestern?

I didn’t really sleep that well because I had a cold. My hair was all pretty and stuff, so I tried to sleep pretty, which was uncomfortable because I’m used to sleeping all the time in my own bed. ‘Sleeping pretty’ is how you keep your hair looking nice after you get it done. I’m really good at it, you should have seen me sleeping pretty before prom.

The first night was pretty crazy because I didn’t know anyone and I just kept meeting people randomly all over. It was a strange transition. At home, I’m used to having everything be scheduled, but here everything is unstructured. I went to bed at like 1:30 a.m. and people were still up. There were still boxes everywhere all over my room. My mom made my bed when I moved in, but everything else is still a mess. I’ll unpack my clothes eventually.

I was really surprised at all the activity in the dorm. I had thought it was going to be slow, but there was a lot of action. As for actually sleeping, it’s not my bed, so I had some trouble sleeping through the night. Our windows face east, so the sun woke me up. There was no way to block out the light.

My bed was really comfortable and I got a good night sleep. It was the first night of college, so I did what most other people did: a lot of wandering around. My floor played cards together, and I learned that Burger King at 2 a.m. is amazing.

My first night in McCullough was fricking nuts. It was absolutely out of control. I won’t tell you the beginning details, but at the end of the night, my roommate and I were still up in the room at 4 a.m. and people were yelling outside. Let’s just say I slept like a baby.

The mattress was pretty soft. It was nice, it wasn’t too loud. I don’t really remember how the night went, cause I was asleep. My floor was pretty quiet. I thought Elder was more about parties, and there were some, but not on my floor. My floor was boring.

My first night was a little crazy. I was up until like 6 a.m. I was just meeting new people and getting my room ready and stuff. We went to Burger King at four in the morning, which was actually pretty good. My bed was pretty comfortable, though at that point I was too tired to notice.

It’s a dorm full of theatre majors, so it’s really outgoing and talkative. I went to bed at 1 a.m. Everyone just agreed to go to bed at the same time, so it wasn’t too noisy. The rooms must be pretty soundproof, though, because the guy in the room next to me was playing guitar. All in all, it was an easy transition and I slept well.
