Looking ahead: Events for the week

    Last quarter brought you Natasha Lyonne, a.k.a  Nicky Nichols from Orange Is the New Black. This quarter brings you Laverne Cox, a.k.a Sophia Burset from OITNB. Take some time to forget about your midterms, close your textbook, shut your laptop and leave Core to check out some events that are happening this week. 

    Beneath The Helmet screening

    The Israel Education Center and Wildcats for Israel bring you Jerusalem U's new film, Beneath the Helmet: From High School to the Home Front, which centers on five Israeli 18-year-olds as they leave home and join the military.

    Laverne Cox

    A&O Productions, Rainbow Alliance and One Book One Northwestern presents Laverne Cox: actress, TV producer, media personality and advocate for transgender individuals. Cox will discuss issues of gender, race, class and her own experiences confronting social biases and inequality. 

    When: Tuesday, April 28 at 7 p.m.

    Girl Rising: Movie Screening and Q & A with Maaza Mengiste

    Girl Rising follows nine girls from nine different countries, and their obstacles. Following the screening there is a Q & A with the author, Maaza Mengiste.

    NU Channel 1 Trivia Night

    Take a break from binge watching Netflix and head over to NU Channel 1's night of TV Trivia, and put those hours (or days... or weeks... or years) of watching to use.

    Northwestern's Mental Health Services: DEBUNKED

    NU Active Minds tackles NU Mental health services with a panel including people from Counseling and Psychological Services, Weinberg College Advising, and a Northwestern student who took a leave of absence.

    When: Thursday, April 30 at 7 p.m.

    CSA & APAC Spring Speaker: Wong Fu Productions

    Wong Fu Productions will come to premiere their new film, Everything Before Us. After gaining nearly 300 million YouTube plays, Northwestern will be able to see Wong Fu's first feature film for free.
