Common’s Northwestern freestyle, on video

If you stayed inside finishing off that handle of vodka during Common’s performance on Dillo Day, you missed his freestyle rap about Northwestern. Some good soul went ahead and filmed the rap, then slapped it up on YouTube.

Pretty neat, and always a good time seeing a celebrity wearing an NU sweatshirt. Some of [...]

Videos of yesteryears Dillo Day performers

Northwestern’s favorite day of the year looms, and I’m sure you don’t need any help getting excited for NU’s most debaucherous hours. Well, to help out anyway, here are a few videos of previous musical acts who graced Dillo Day with their presence. Also, don’t forget to get your, uhh, supplies, now.

Meet The Cool Kids

Few musical outfits have the genre-jumping appeal of Chicago rap duo The Cool Kids. But “Mikey Rocks” and “Chuck Inglish’s” thrift-store wardrobe and silly subject matter (not to mention [...]

Musical ramblings (or the new Portishead album is great)

Not every stray idea can become a blog post, and, to clear my system of topics that will never actually get the single-post treatment, here are a few ramblings. Enjoy.
Portishead’s new album, Third, is the best album I’ve heard all year. Lead singer Beth Gibbon’s downtrodden-but-beautiful vocals appear as the obvious standout on [...]
