Dog of the night: Shiba Inu

By now, you’ve surely seen the Shiba Inu puppy cam. If you’ve missed this webcam footage of puppies mostly sleeping but occassionally doing stuff, please tell me how you’ve been able to avoid the Internet, I have a lot of work to do.
Lets turn off the puppy cam for one night, however, [...]

Dogs dressed up for Halloween

My favorite holiday is only a few calendar pages away and, even though I won’t be trick-or-treating this year, I’m still pumped for the pumpkin-filled holiday. To get into the spooky mood (and ignore the big ol’ syringe NU football found in its Snickers), let’s take a look at some Halloween-themed animal videos. [...]

Icelandic Sheepdogs… possibly going bankrupt

The economic situation in America looks pretty bad at the moment, but remember that everything could be worse. No, seriously. Just look at the land of Bjork and cod fishing, Iceland. They might just go completely bankrupt. Since I took Intro to Economics at community college because the NU course seemed [...]

The trials of Wiggles, the balance-challenged dog

I didn’t know the National Geographic Channel boasted a show called DogTown that’s not actually about skateboard decks. But, apparently, this program exists and featured a short segment on an adorable bulldog named Wiggles. One problem with Wiggles, though: turns out he’s got balance issues. He constantly falls over, and can’t control [...]

Dogs of war

Having any trouble choosing what classes you should take for the upcoming quarter? Well, stop comparing Intro to Sociology and Intro to Russian Literature. I got the answer right here.
A history class.
Besides the fact there is no easier test to cram for than a history exam, a course looking into the past might help [...]

Sleepy dogs, one sad and one happy

Sometimes, cute animals are flawed. And then you have Skeeter the Narcoleptic Poodle, one adorable doggy who also falls asleep a lot. Kinda depressing, but Skeeter’s also really precious.

Thanks to Billy Schwartz for finding this one. But I understand some of you might be feeling a bit downtrodden by that pooch’s predicament. [...]

Help choose the cutest and cuddliest puppy

Still feeling down about the big graduation announcement? Try cheering yourself up by voting in Today’s puppy poll! Choose which pup you think is “cutest and cuddliest” and let the world (who watches Today, I guess) know.
Bonus video of puppies in case the thought of Mayor Daley makes you want to [...]

Puppies grow up on YouTube, stay adorable

Puppies are cute, but waiting for them to grow up can take a really long time, and can also be a big drag. But thanks to the wonders of YouTube and video-editing software, dogs can become cute in a matter of seconds instead of months. Plus, you can edit out the part where [...]

Bark the Vote, or the best thing related to politics ever

There I was, just sifting through YouTube videos when I stumbled upon a video of a dog holding a press conference. I couldn’t resist clicking it. Here is what I saw:

I stuck around until the very end, and became intrigued by “Bark the Vote.” So, I went to the Web site. [...]

“Animal Idol” or lots of animals “singing”

Let’s cut right to the chase — big props to my latest bookmarked Web site Ultra Kawaii (tagline: “so cute it hurts”) for creating this compilation on YouTube called “Animal Idol.” Basically, it’s a collection of cute animals “singing,” with some semi-cute-but-semi-nightmare-inducing Flash characters filling in for the American Idol crew.

The two finalists are [...]

Shar-Peis: not markers, really cute dogs

Another long week coming up, another post featuring cute dogs to make the start a little less rough. This week’s dog variety: Shar-Peis! Need I say more?

They look so wise!

Lhaso Apso: Much cuter than you think

Lhaso Apso sounds mysterious, like some far-off, mist-covered temple in South America, or a dish at a Swedish restaurant. Nope, turns out it’s a breed of puppy. And a very cute one at that. Video below.

YouTube commenter mutedmajority sums it up: “If cuteness is a crime, you got a class A felon.”

Springer Spaniel appreciation night

The inner-workings of this fair Web site may pleasantly shock you. Yes, on one side of the room sit the super-serious kids typing away at computers and “getting work done.” Yet, on the other end of the room the less productive types (my hand raised) gather around a computer open to YouTube and [...]

Cute animal pictures = art? Sure!

Leave it to Slate to dedicate a slideshow to fantastic, old-timey photos of dogs. The pictures were taken by photographer Elliott Erwitt, and the subjects are dogs from around the world. Here is, by far, my favorite, slide number 16:

This chihuahua looks absolutely elated to be wearing such a fancy sweater, especially in [...]
