A club sports team of 28 players, Northwestern Ice Hockey competes in the American Collegiate Hockey Association at the Men’s Division III level. But the league’s title has become obsolete.
Three of Northwestern’s players are in fact women. McCormick Third-year goalie Hannah Goldenberg, McCormick third-year defender Samantha Niemi and Medill second-year forward Amelia Albers circumvented the void in women’s ice hockey at NU when they enrolled in the club team’s tryouts. Now veteran players, the three women challenge convention every time they step on the ice.
