Move your laundry to the dryer
— 45 minutes —
try to stomach food,
look at yourself in the mirror

side profile, it’s hard to look away,
count the calories in dining hall ranch and apple juice.

Take your laundry out of the dryer,
clean sheets in a basket on the floor,
sit on a bare mattress.
Look at yourself in the mirror
(nose piercing, blanket wrapped around you,
still warm).
Full body, watch your shoulders rise and fall,
count the seconds between your breaths.
